Raul Briones Cup Recap: George Almeida Nets Winner In Group Stage
LA MIRADA, CA (Novemeber 25, 2024) – .After an eye-opening professional debut season, George Almeida is again Cup eligible.
Almeida scored the match-winning goal in the 69th minute as FC United Kingdom defeated Irvine FC Reserves 3-2 in a SoCal Premier League Raul Briones Cup Group D match at Orange County Great Park in Irvine on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The leading goal getter in 2024 for Irvine Zeta FC with 11 across all competitions, Almeida previously played three season in the SoCal Premier League with FC United Kingdom and helped the club win the 2022 Raul Briones Cup champion.
FC Cypress jumped to the the top of Group A with a 4-2 win over Olympiacos CA, while Real Sociedad O.C. jumped all over Fontana Legacy FC in Group B and Medallo City FC shutout Olympiacos CA II 6-0 in Group C.
Playmaker FC topped Apex FC 2-1 to start Group E, SoCal Elite SC shutout Los Hermanos FC 10-0 in Group F and Temecula FC opened Group SD with an 8-0 win over San Diego Boca.
